It is very important that the primary purpose of this tool is to allow us to create better work. Making a tool that allows us to realize our vision in a faster, richer, and more meaningful way is well worth the short term investment for the long term benefits. As many artists before us, we think that toolmaking is an important aspect of creation. This is especially true with creative persuits. We use tools every day to help us do things. Nowadays I prefer drawing in Concepts and then proceed to Photoshop for some final adjustments afterwards (if needed). We made Storyboarder because we needed a great storyboarding tool that simply didn't exist. Photoshop is quite heavy for devices and isn't as smooth as using Concepts for instance. You kinda get a similar effect because you're drawing in really high resolution, but it's not a vector after all.īesides from these two you have the obvious players on the market like Photoshop. Leonardo's biggest disadvantage is that you're not able to draw in vectors. It's worth the purchase and I've drawn a few pieces in Leonardo, examples being: & Leonardo is an ambitious attempt of creating a new player on the market and still in the beta with a lot of updates (I'd say an update with new features a month). You're also drawing in vectors here, which is amazing if you plan do create Icons or other work related stuff. For normal Sketching and up to 5 layers the demo is enough though. There's also a free version for trial but it obviously lacks a lot of features the full-version has. The only other app that matches that amazing responsive feel while writing is OneNote. Concepts has the best "feel" to it when drawing and there's literally no delay with input (pen) and therefor is very responsive.
